About Us

What’s a Church, and what’s a Christian?

Churches are communities of people who have been put right with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, Who died and rose again in their place. Christians have accepted God’s offer of forgiveness and are therefore in a living relationship with Him and each other.

Everyone is born rebellious and self-centred, instead of God-centred as God first designed us to be (Romans 3:23), but “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever  believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) … and so, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, for God’s anger remains on him.” (John 3:36)

 What is our denomination?

“The Christian Reformed Churches of  Australia“, has its origins in the Protestant Reformation, which took place in Europe during the 16th Century. It was begun by Dutch migrants in 1951, growing to 54 churches across Australia.

Our final authority for faith and life is the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. We agree with the historic Christian Creeds, which are the Apostle’s, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds.

In addition, we believe The Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, Canons of Dordt and Westminster Confession, are faithful summaries of the Bible’s teachings.

Basically, our churches are “Presbyterian”, i.e. each congregation is led by a Council, consisting of Elders and Deacons. The main difference between a Presbyterian Church and our Reformed churches is that one originated from Scotland and the other from the European continent.

Our aim is to know, and make known, the crucified and risen Christ because, “… there is salvation in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

 When do we meet?

We meet for worship and fellowship each Sunday at 9.30am and 6pm, followed by tea and coffee. A creche room is provided for parents with young children.

 Where do we meet?

Our building is found on the corner of the Northern Rd and Cobbitty Rd, Cobbitty – 1st entrance on the right off Cobbitty Rd travelling away from Northern Rd.

OUR GREATEST DESIRE IS THAT PEOPLE COME TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AND PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM TO BE RIGHT WITH GOD … WITH THE RESULT THAT THEY BECOME PART OF A BIBLE FOCUSED CHURCH IN OUR AREA, OF WHICH WE ARE ONE.
